IMSU Student Arrested for Fatal Stabbing of FUTO Student.

Imo State University student, Francis Marvelous, has been arrested by the state’s Police Command following the fatal stabbing of a final-year Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) student, Marvelous Kingsley. The tragic incident unfolded during an altercation on Thursday night, with Marvelous allegedly wielding a knife during the confrontation.

Contrary to rumors suggesting involvement of a Fulani herdsman, the police clarified that the altercation was not ethnically motivated. Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that Marvelous was apprehended promptly after receiving a distress call. The suspect, according to Okoye, confessed to the crime during interrogation, citing a heated argument as the catalyst for the stabbing.

In a press statement, Okoye detailed the circumstances leading to the arrest, mentioning that Marvelous, a 300-level IMSU student, admitted to brandishing a concealed knife during a confrontation with members of FUTO’s Man O’ War Unit. The victim’s body was swiftly recovered and transported to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he was pronounced dead and subsequently placed in the mortuary.

Efforts are underway to track down other individuals involved in the altercation, including Marvelous’s brother, Francis Promise, and two others known as Prince and Soji. These suspects are currently at large, and law enforcement authorities are conducting a comprehensive investigation to ascertain their role in the incident.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness account shed light on additional casualties resulting from the altercation. Apart from Kingsley’s tragic demise, another student succumbed to injuries sustained during the chaos, while several others suffered varying degrees of injury. The injured students were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri for medical attention.

As investigations continue, the Imo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families. Marvelous is expected to face charges for his alleged involvement in the fatal stabbing, pending the conclusion of the investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
