Nigerian Army Eliminates IPOB/ESN Commander “Ojoto” in Imo State

In recent years, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have gained attention for their activities in Nigeria’s Southeast region. IPOB, a secessionist group advocating for the independence of Biafra, and its paramilitary wing, the ESN, have been involved in various clashes with security forces, leading to tensions and violence in the region.

The Nigerian government has designated IPOB as a terrorist organization, alleging its involvement in acts of violence and destabilization. The ESN, established by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, aims to protect the southeastern region from perceived threats and enforce the group’s agenda of secession.

Nigerian Army Eliminates IPOB/ESN Commander "Ojoto" in Imo State

The Nigerian Army has successfully eliminated Tochukwu, also known as Ojoto, the commander of the Ihietukwa Command of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), stationed in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

The operation, carried out by troops belonging to the Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, was based on credible intelligence and targeted clearance operations in the areas of Udda, Ihittukwa, and Orsumoghu within Orsu Local Government Area.

During the operation, the troops encountered the terrorists, who attempted to halt their advancement using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). However, despite the challenge posed by the terrorists, the determined joint troops, armed with superior firepower, effectively forced the criminals to retreat in disarray. The encounter neutralised four irredentists, including Tochukwu “Ojoto,” the IPOB/ESN commander of the Ihietukwa Command.

Recovering items from the hideouts, the troops seized significant weaponry and materials, including an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, two automatic pump-action guns, handheld Baofeng radios, a laptop, a Techno phone, car keys, substances suspected to be Marijuana, Biafran currencies, five IEDs, IED-making materials, batteries used in detonating the IEDs, and assorted charms.

The Nigerian Army’s successful operation marks a significant blow to the activities of IPOB and ESN in the region, reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Imo State and across the country.
