Nigerian Soldier Arrested for Stabbing Motorcyclist in Lagos Bar Brawl

In Lagos, a disturbing incident has unfolded as a Lance Corporal from the Nigerian army stands accused of a shocking crime.

Authorities from the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended the soldier following allegations of attempted murder against a commercial motorcycle rider named Saheed Isah in the Ikorodu area.

According to reports from Naija News, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest on Monday via a statement.

Hundeyin detailed that the soldier, currently serving with the 159 Battalion in Yobe State, purportedly wielded a jackknife to stab the motorcycle rider in the upper left side of his stomach during a confrontation at a bar in the Itamaga locality of Ikorodu.

The police disclosed that, upon apprehension, the visibly intoxicated soldier was found in possession of a pistol and a jackknife. Meanwhile, the victim, Saheed Isah, has been admitted to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.

The statement released by the police department read, “At about 3 am, the Chief Security Officer of a lounge in the Itamaga area of Ikorodu reported at Ikorodu Division that a soldier stabbed the rider in the stomach during a minor disagreement.

The soldier attached to the 159th battalion in Yobe State, armed with a gun and a jackknife, stabbed one Saheed Isah, a commercial motorcyclist, on the upper left side of his stomach.”

“The soldier had a misunderstanding with the rider at a drinking bar earlier. The victim sustained a grievous injury. The victim was rushed to a hospital in the area, and he is currently receiving treatment and responding adequately.”
