Police Unveil Pictures of Slain, Missing Officers in Delta Operation

The Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja has revealed the tragic deaths of six officers and the disappearance of six others during an operation in Delta State. The officers were ambushed while on a mission to investigate the disappearance and rescue of three colleagues in the Ohoro Forest.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the deceased officers include Inspector Abe Olubunmi, Inspector Friday Irorere, Sergeant Kuden Elisha, Sergeant Akpan Aniette, Sergeant Ayere Paul, and Sergeant Ejemito Friday.

The missing officers are Inspector Onoja Daniel, Inspector Onogho Felix, Inspector Emmanuel Okoroafor, Inspector Joel Hamidu, Sergeant Moses Eduvie, and Sergeant Cyril Okorie.

Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the immediate payment of entitlements to the families of the deceased officers. Plans are underway to honour the slain officers posthumously at the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony in Abuja on April 5, 2024.

Furthermore, the Inspector General of Police has mandated expedited processing and payment of all entitlements due to the families of the fallen officers to alleviate financial burdens during this challenging time. The bodies of six slain officers have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to locate the missing officers.

The police force is committed to ensuring that justice is served swiftly. Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the ambush, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend all perpetrators responsible for the heinous act.

The Nigeria Police Force condemns any further assaults on police officers and urges the public to collaborate by providing pertinent information to aid in apprehending the perpetrators. Together, efforts will bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure peace and security throughout the country.
