CDS Vows to Hunt Down Killers of 17 Soldiers in Delta

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed his determination to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the deaths of military personnel in Delta State. Speaking at the burial ceremony for the slain soldiers in Abuja, General Musa pledged to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.

In a stern warning directed at the perpetrators of violence, General Musa stated, “To those who seek to sow division and fear among our people through acts of violence, know this: our resolve will not waver. We will hunt you down, bring you to justice, and restore peace and security to every corner of our beloved nation.”

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu has charged local elders with the task of identifying and handing over those responsible for the recent killing of 17 Nigerian Army troops in Okuama, Delta State.

The soldiers, affiliated with the 181 Amphibious Battalion based in Bomadi LGA, fell victim to an ambush by irate youths amidst a land dispute, triggering concerns of potential military retaliation.

During the solemn burial ceremony in Abuja, President Tinubu posthumously honoured the deceased soldiers with national awards, recognizing their unwavering service and sacrifice.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of accountability, urging community leaders in Ughelli South LGA to collaborate with authorities to resolve the conflict and ensure justice for the fallen personnel.

Amid rumours of a planned reprisal, the Defence Headquarters reiterated its commitment to legal and constructive engagement in addressing the matter. They dismissed claims of unwarranted aggression and affirmed their dedication to pursuing justice through lawful means, underscoring a firm stance against violence and lawlessness.
