IGP Condemns Deadly Bank Robbery in Benue State, Vows Action

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has strongly denounced the recent tragic armed bank robbery in Otukpo, Benue State, which led to the loss of lives, including police officers and innocent civilians.

According to sources, the brazen attack carried out by daring armed robbers killed three police officers and several civilians.

In an official statement, Police Spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized that the killing represents an assault on the fundamental principles of peace, security, and justice that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies tirelessly uphold.

The IGP extended heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims affected by this appalling act of violence.

Efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice have already commenced, with two suspects reportedly neutralized by operatives during an attempted escape. The IGP assured the public that all necessary resources and efforts would be devoted to swiftly apprehend and prosecute the remaining criminals.

The Nigeria Police Force has initiated a comprehensive and coordinated operation to track the perpetrators. Additionally, all commands and formations have been placed on high alert to prevent further deadly assaults on institutions and innocent citizens, especially during the Ember Months, known for increased criminal activities.
