EFCC Pursues Yahaya Bello Amid Alleged Video of Wife Distributing Money to Aides

In recent developments surrounding former Kogi governor Yahaya Bello, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intensified efforts to apprehend him, amid allegations of economic and financial crimes amounting to ₦80.2 billion.

However, the situation has escalated with the emergence of a video purportedly showing Bello’s wife distributing $1 million each to his former aides.

This revelation comes on the heels of a dramatic encounter between the EFCC and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, who reportedly prevented the anti-graft agency’s operatives from apprehending Bello. Following this incident, the EFCC swiftly issued a circular urging Nigerians with knowledge of Bello’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in his apprehension.

To prevent Bello from leaving the country, the EFCC requested that he be placed on a watchlist and a no-fly list. The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) promptly acted on this request, issuing directives to its area and zonal commands to arrest Bello if spotted and to prevent his departure via any land, air, or sea borders.

The video circulating on social media showing Bello’s wife allegedly distributing large sums of money to his former aides adds another layer of complexity to the situation, raising questions about possible financial improprieties and further implicating Bello in potential criminal activities.
