The statement stressed Nigeria’s longstanding relationship with China, highlighting mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship. It also acknowledged both countries’ contributions to various sectors, including infrastructure development, trade, education, and healthcare.

Additionally, the Chinese Embassy’s efforts to promote cultural exchanges and scholarships for Nigerian students were recognized as significant in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

The controversy surrounding the Chinese supermarket erupted after reports of Nigerians being barred from entering the facility. Following public outcry, the FCCPC intervened, shutting down the supermarket and summoning the owner for alleged discrimination.

However, the owner denied the accusations, leading to further scrutiny and calls for accountability. As the investigation unfolds, the House of Representatives aims to ensure fairness and uphold the principles of inclusivity and mutual respect in Nigeria-China relations.
