Tinubu Mourns the fallen soldiers killed in Delta State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined mourners at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja to bid farewell to 17 military personnel who lost their lives tragically in Okuama Community, Delta State.

The soldiers, comprising a Lieutenant Colonel, two Majors, a Captain, and 13 other soldiers, were brutally killed by youths of the community during a peacekeeping mission.

The solemn burial ceremony witnessed heartfelt tributes from President Tinubu, who extended condolences to the families of the fallen heroes. He praised their courage and selflessness in the face of danger and honoured their dedication to maintaining peace and order in the nation.

The untimely deaths of these soldiers shed light on the dangers faced by military personnel in conflict zones, particularly in areas with simmering tensions and communal disputes. The soldiers had embarked on a mission to mediate between Okuama and Okoloba communities, seeking to quell the longstanding feud between the two groups.

Tragically, their noble mission took a violent turn when they were ambushed and attacked by youths from the Okuama Community. Despite their efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully, they fell victim to senseless violence, leaving behind grieving families and a nation in mourning.
