Congratulations to the Nigerian Law School Class of ’24 on Call to Bar Ceremony
The tradition of calling law graduates to the bar dates back several centuries to the United Kingdom. The term “bar” originally referred to the physical barrier in courtrooms separating lawyers from the rest of the participants. The ceremony symbolizes the transition of law graduates from students to practicing lawyers, allowing them to enter the “bar” and represent clients in court.
Today, I join the chorus of well-wishers to congratulate the Nigerian Law School Class of 24 on the momentous occasion of their Call to the Nigerian Bar.
Your perseverance, dedication, and countless hours of hard work have culminated in this achievement.
The legal profession is known for its challenges, but it is also a noble calling that requires intellect, integrity, and a deep commitment to justice. You have exhibited these qualities throughout your academic journey, and today, we witness the fruition of your efforts.
As you enter the legal arena, remember your responsibility to wield the knowledge and power of the law.
