ELECTORAL COMMITTEE OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION: ECNBA NOTICE NO.2, ON THE NBA 2024 ELECTIONS

Distinguished Colleagues,

Pursuant to Sections 9, 10 and the second schedule of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association 2015 as amended in 2021(The Constitution), and the approval of the NBA NEC at its meeting of 29th February 2024, the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) appointed to conduct the Election of:

(a) National Officers of the Nigerian Bar Association.
(NBA/Association); and

(b) NBA Representatives to the General Council of the Bar hereby issues this formal Notice of election as follows:

PART A – ELECTION OF NATIONAL OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATION

The election of National Officers of the NBA shall be held and conducted by electronic voting commencing from 00:00 hours to 23:59 hours on 20th July 2024.

The offices for which eligible members or candidates may contest based on rotation among the three (3) geographical zones stipulated in Part IV (1),(2),(3),(4) &(5), Second Schedule of the Constitution of the NBA, 2015, as amended in 2021 (the Constitution), as well as the qualifications for the offices listed in Section 9(3) of the Constitution, are contained in the table below:

1 President – Eastern Zone

A full member of the Association In private legal practice, With not less than 15 years post-call and not less than 2 years as a member of the National Executive Council (previously known as the National Executive Committee) (“NEC”) at the time of nomination and has paid the requisite practising fees and branch dues.

2 First Vice President – Eastern Zone
A full member of the Association in private legal practice with not less than 15 years post-call
and not less than 2 years as a member of the National Executive Council (previously known as the National Executive Committee) (“NEC”) at the time of nomination and has paid the requisite practising fees and branch dues.

3 Second Vice President – Western Zone
A full member of the Associationwith not less than 15 years post-calland not less than 2 years as a member of the National Executive Council and has paid the requisite practising fees and branch dues.

4 Third Vice-President – Northern Zone
A full member of the Association with not less than 15 years post-call and not less than 2 years as a member of the National Executive Council and has paid the requisite practising fees and branch dues.

5 General Secretary – Northern Zone
A full member of the Association in private practice, with no less than 15 years post-call and not less than 2 years as a member of the National Executive and has paid the requisite practicing fees and branch dues.

6 Assistant General – Not Zoned
A full member of the Association in private practice, with not less than 5 years post-call and not less.
