Reports indicate that the motive behind this heinous act was the theft of N1,000 by Friday. According to local sources, Friday had a history of robbery in the area, and his mother instructed Goodness to punish him to deter his criminal behaviour.

Instead of meting out a reasonable punishment, Goodness led his younger brother into a nearby bush and buried him alive. The situation took a fortunate turn for Friday when vigilant members of the community caught Goodness in the act of burning his brother alive. They quickly intervened, exhuming Friday’s body and reporting the incident to the police.

Responding to the horrifying occurrence, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovie Aya, announced that Goodness had been arrested and taken into custody. He further explained that the victim, Friday, is a seven-year-old child with a history of stealing. Concerned for her child’s future, the mother instructed Goodness to discipline his younger sibling.
