The Nigerian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators is actively preparing for its 24th Annual Conference, scheduled for 6-8 November in Abuja, Nigeria. With the experienced Co-Chairs, Isaiah Bozimo SAN and Diane Okoko, steering the proceedings, this year’s theme, “Fresh Perspective: Back to Basics in ADR,” promises to illuminate and resolve the critical challenges facing arbitration and ADR today.

To ensure the success and impact of this Conference, a dedicated Conference Planning Committee has been established, comprising seasoned professionals from diverse sectors. This team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to curate a program that is as informative as it is transformative.

Conference Goals and Central Theme

Introducing the Planning Committee

The success of our Conference relies on the collective expertise and dedication of our Planning Committee members. Each brings unique skills and insights, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching event for all attendees.

Conference Planning Committee (CPC): Led by Isaiah Bozimo SAN and Diane Okoko, with the invaluable support of Afolasade Banjo as CPC Secretary and EseogheneAror as Assistant Secretary, this Team sets the strategic direction of the Conference. They ensure activities align with our theme, “Fresh Perspective: Back to Basics in ADR,” while managing finances to meet our ambitious goals without exceeding the budget.

Budget and Finance Subcommittee: Paul-Harris Ogbole SAN chairs this crucial team, including Joke Aliu, Adelayo L-Oriekun, Ndetuokid Essang, Chioma Jack, Efosa Ewere, NaaAmorkorAmarteifio, and Abigail Somoye. They safeguard our financial health, managing budgets and fostering funding opportunities to support the Conference’s success.

Gala Night Subcommittee: Yejide Osunkeye leads the creative force behind our Gala Night, working with Chinenye Onyemaizu, Hauwa Usman, Olushola Adeniran, Sonia Akinbiyi, and Adamma Isamade.They’re offering an unforgettable evening that combines relaxation with valuable networking opportunities.

Logistics Subcommittee: Salman A. Salman and his team, comprising Josephine Akinwumi, Daniel Ihueze, Babayemi Olaniyan, Emmanuella Anika, Israel Ekpo, Joseph Toriola, Marx Ikongbeh, andFolashadeDosunmu, ensure the Conference runs smoothly. They manage venue selection, logistical arrangements, and attendee needs to create a seamless experience.

Marketing and Publicity Subcommittee: Dr Adeyemi Agbelusi will lead this team, with Henry Barnabas Ehi, FolashadeDosunmu, LauraineDarkwah, Samuel Fagade, Tamunokuro George, and Adelayo L-Oriekun. They will develop and implement strategies to maximise attendance and engagement, highlighting what makes our Conference unique.

Sessions and Speakers Subcommittee: Babajimi Ayorinde, assisted by Ali Zubairu, Joke Aliu, Emeka Nwadioke, Rebecca Ebokpo, and Marx Ikongbeh, curates the educational content. They select speakers and design sessions that foster meaningful dialogue and practical outcomes.

Young Members Group (YMG) Day Subcommittee: Chaired by AbisoyeFadahunsi and supported by Bobby Banson, JolaadeFalade, Christabel Ndeokwelu, Christopher Nwuya, and Daniel Ihueze, this team tailors the Conference to meet the needs and interests of our younger members, ensuring an inclusive and enriching experience.
