The coroner’s inquest into the untimely death of the famous singer Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, commenced on a significant note at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos. With urgency, the coroner set the date for witnesses to appear before the court, slated for October 13, 2023.
During a closed-door session, Funmi Falana, the legal representative of Mohbad’s grieving family and a team of lawyers deliberated on the procedures and logistics necessary for the forthcoming examination of witnesses.
Addressing reporters after the session, Falana stated, “Today’s deliberation was focused on the strategies and timing of the proceedings to ensure justice prevails. We have a set date, and we will present our witnesses.”
Falana expressed unwavering commitment to securing justice for the late singer, offering assurance to Mohbad’s family and devoted fans. “We are champions of justice, and while peace is essential, we are resolute in our pursuit of justice. We are determined to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s tragic demise,” she affirmed.
The coroner’s inquest unfolds less than 24 hours after the arrest of show promoter Sam Larry, who is currently under police investigation regarding the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s untimely passing. The singer’s death has thrust Sam Larry and musician Naira Marley into the public eye, triggering widespread outrage and calls for transparency in the ongoing investigation.
