The theme of the event, “Banditry, Kidnapping, and Herdsmen Attacks: Causes and Mitigation from Sharia Perspective,” highlights the grave security challenges plaguing Nigeria. These issues have inflicted significant dangers and damage, resulting in the loss of countless lives and livelihoods, disrupting social cohesion, and exacerbating intercommunal tensions.

Moreover, the persistent threat of banditry, kidnapping, and herdsmen attacks has led to economic stagnation, loss of revenue, and a humanitarian crisis characterized by food insecurity and displacement. Additionally, these challenges undermine the rule of law, erode confidence in government institutions, and tarnish Nigeria’s international image, hindering socio-economic development and diplomatic relations.

The Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), FCT Branch, convened a highly anticipated public lecture today, drawing distinguished legal practitioners, scholars, and thought leaders to engage in a discourse of paramount significance.
