Ongoing Efforts to Secure Safe Release of Abducted NYSC Corps Members in Zamfara State: Update by IGP Kayode Egbetokun

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has given a fresh update concerning the ongoing search for eight kidnapped National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State. The abduction took place about four weeks ago when the corps members were travelling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State en route to Zamfara State to participate in the mandatory national service.

Despite the passage of four weeks since the incident, the police continue to intensify their efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted victims. Egbetokun emphasized the commitment of the police force to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens, particularly the young NYSC members, and highlighted the utmost importance of securing the release of the abducted corps members.

GP Kayode Egbetokun’s Commitment to Safe Rescue of Abducted NYSC Corps Members

During a meeting with strategic police managers and a media briefing highlighting policies, breakthroughs, and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force in the last five weeks, Egbetokun reiterated the dedication of the police force to intensifying efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted corps members and all others still in captivity of criminal gangs in any part of the country.

Egbetokun stated, “We are firm in our commitment to intensify our efforts at ensuring the safe rescue of these abducted Corp Members and all others still in captivity of criminal gangs in any part of the country.” He further mentioned that the police force is actively engaged in sharing and analyzing intelligence gathered thus far, while also exploring collaborative efforts with other security agencies to secure the unconditional release of the abducted individuals swiftly and without harm.

The acting IGP emphasized the careful, tactical, and deliberate approach required in rescue operations, conducted with the utmost caution to avoid unintended harm to the victims. The update provided by IGP Kayode Egbetokun underscores the ongoing efforts and dedication of the Nigeria Police Force in the search for and safe release of the abducted NYSC corps members in Zamfara State.
