A Magistrate Court in the Yaba area of Lagos State has remanded Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, in police custody.

The remand comes in response to a request from the Lagos State Police Command, which sought a 30-day detention period for Naira Marley and the other individuals involved, pending the completion of their investigation.

Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, however, ruled that Fashola and the others be remanded for 21 days.

This development follows Naira Marley’s announcement on Tuesday regarding his return to Nigeria to aid in investigating Mohbad’s death. In a post on his account on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), the controversial singer stated, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. I must do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

This remand underscores the seriousness of the ongoing investigation and the legal proceedings surrounding Mohbad’s unfortunate demise.
