Under Senate President Akpabio’s leadership, a voice vote was conducted, and most senators voted to confirm these ministerial appointments.

Notably, President Bola Tinubu had previously appointed Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth and Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of State for Youth in September. These appointments were made to fill a vacancy created when Abubakar Momoh was redeployed to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.

Balarabe Abbas Lawal’s nomination was put forward as a replacement for Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, who could not undergo Senate clearance due to security considerations.

President Tinubu’s request for the Senate’s approval of these nominees was based on the provisions of Section 147(2) of the constitution as amended. The confirmation process was initiated on Wednesday following a motion presented by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.
