The University of Abuja, Department of Islamic studies: 2023 National Conference
Theme: ” the roles of Muslims in participating in a peaceful election in Nigeria.”
To encourage the younger ones through awareness creation that would enhance a better
future, Muslims have been urged to be committed to the nation’s development and exercise their
civic obligation by participating fully in the forthcoming general elections.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University keffi, Professor Sa’adatu, Liman made the
call at the first National conference organized by the Department of Islamic studies at the University
of Abuja.
The roles of Muslims in participating in a peaceful election in Nigeria
Speaking On the theme of the event, ” the parts of Muslims in participating in a peaceful election in
Nigeria “the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University keffi Professor Sa’adatu Liman,
while admonishing them to participate actively in politics by the dictates of their religion and to remain
good ambassadors of Islam, emphasize the need for them to exhibit the virtues of peace, tolerance
and empathy during the forthcoming election.
The Vice-Chancellor University of Abuja, Adbulrasheed Na’Allah, represented by the Head of the Department
Islamic studies of the University of Abuja, Dr Musa Drofe described the election as an avenue for the
people to exercise their civic responsibility and contribute to the development of the country, stressing the
need for the students to vote wisely for a credible candidate.
Say No To Election Violence:
Also, the Chairman organizing committee of the Conference, Professor Lukeman Zakariyyau, said the
the event was designed to re-orientate the minds of the youths to shun all forms of electoral violence in
the country and to imbibe Islam’s morals and dictates, particularly in the forthcoming election.
According to him, participants were from drawn Various institutions, which include Sokoto, Kaduna, Kano,
Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Benue States.
