The Wigwe family, comprising Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their son Chizi, was tragically laid to rest amidst tears in their hometown of Omueke, Isiokpo, Rivers State. Herbert Wigwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, was widely respected in the banking industry for his leadership and vision.

His wife, Chizoba, stood as a pillar of support, known for her grace and kindness. Their son, Chizi, represented the promise of a new generation, embodying the family’s hopes and aspirations. The late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi, were laid to rest in a solemn ceremony in his hometown of Omueke, Isiokpo, Rivers State. Following a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Isiokpo, Ikwere Local Government Area, the 57-year-old banker and his family were interred in a private ceremony.

The burial marked the culmination of a week-long series of funeral rites to celebrate the life of the esteemed founder of Wigwe University. Business leaders, friends, industry captains, and family members paid heartfelt tributes to the late banking icon at events held in Lagos before the funeral.

The funeral service, attended by dignitaries including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, and business mogul Aliko Dangote, commenced promptly at 11:00 am, drawing friends, associates, and well-wishers from local and international communities to bid their final farewells.

Other notable attendees included former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, former Emir of Kano HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Governor Alex Otti of Abia.

The service was also graced by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Babajide Sawno-Olu of Lagos, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and former Nigerian diplomat Dr. Godknows Igali, underscoring the widespread respect and admiration for Herbert Wigwe and his family.
