NBA Women Forum, Rivers State Visits Solicitor-General of Rivers State; Commends Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF), Rivers State chapter, recently visited the Solicitor-General of Rivers State, Mrs. Ibiwari Charity Clapton-Ogolo, to commend her appointment by Governor Siminialayi Fubara GSSRS. Led by Dr. Glory Ozuru, the delegation praised Mrs. Clapton-Ogolo for her impactful leadership in the Ministry of Justice.

Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum

The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) has commended His Excellency Governor Siminialayi Fubara GSSRS for appointing a seasoned Administrator in the person of Mrs. Ibiwari Charity Clapton-Ogolo as the substantive Solicitor-General of Rivers State and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice.

During a courtesy visit to the Learned Solicitor-General of State on the 12th of March, 2024, the Rivers State Lead of NBAWF, Dr. Glory Ozuru, accompanied by some National officers of the Forum; Mrs Irene Pepple (National Secretary), Mrs. Ugwochi Agala(Head, Membership Committee NBAWF), Dr. Grace Ajaegbo (Head, Public Sector Committee) and Barbara Uchechukwu Abayomi, Esq (Deputy Head, Young Female Lawyers Committee) , Branch Facilitators, and other distinguished members of the Forum, congratulated the Learned Solicitor-General of Rivers State, Mrs. Ibiwari Clapton-Ogolo on her appointment and commended her for her impressive impact on the welfare of Law Officers of the Ministry within the short period of her appointment.

The State Lead went on to highlight the objectives of the Forum, and the purpose of the visit. She sought collaboration and partnership with the Ministry of Justice in activities of the Forum and expressed the willingness of the Forum to work with the Ministry towards achieving the mutual goals of justice, empowerment and inclusiveness of female lawyers.

In a warm reception, the Learned Solicitor-General expressed her delight at the visiting team which was made up of intellectuals and accomplished female lawyers. While celebrating the Forum for their choice of leadership, as evident in the team, the S.G. reiterated her love for excellence and advised female lawyers to always pick the best to represent the women in elective positions whenever the opportunity arises. She re-emphasized learning and hard work as the flagships of building personal capacity so as to positively impact any office.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a plaque to Mrs. Ibiwari Clapton-Ogolo by the State Lead as part of activities marking the International Women’s Day celebration and the conferment of the status of an Honorary member of the NBA Women Forum by the General Secretary of the Forum – Mrs. Irene Ini Pepple who represented the Chairperson of the NBA Women Forum Mrs. Chinyere Okorocha.

The Solicitor-General of the State was thereafter decorated with the Forum’s paraphernalia (a rose and pink scarf)

Also present was Mrs. Cordelia Uwuma Eke, a Director in the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, and a Mentor to the Forum, who facilitated the visit and applauded the Forum for recognising the need to seek partnership with stakeholders.
