The Intricacies of the NBA-SPIDEL Dispute and its Implications for Association Governance

Notably, Olusegun Jolaawo SAN, representing the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, drew the Court’s attention to the written address filed on 18/3/24 for the incorporated Trustees of the NBA following the invitation of the President by the Court.

He adopted the written address. He underscored the gravity of the situation and the position of the law. He noted that such actions undermine the authority of the NBA president and violate the constitution of the NBA, which the members are bound to abide by.

He further submitted that NBA-SPIDEL cannot maintain the action as presently constituted and urged the court to dismiss it with costs.

The Counsel to NYSC adopted his written address; likewise, the counsel from the Ministry of Justice also adopted her written address.

The Court said the Plaintiffs in court on the last adjourned date were absent without any explanation; the matter was consequently adjourned to tomorrow, 20/3/24, for the Plaintiffs to respond to the addresses.
