I stand before you today with great honour as we celebrate the 35th Convocation of Yaba College of Technology, a beacon of academic excellence and technological innovation for the past 76 years.

This institution holds a special place in our nation’s educational heritage, steadfastly maintaining its identity and purpose. Today’s celebration marks another significant milestone, and I commend the authorities for organizing a lecture that addresses a crucial issue of our time: “Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy.”

Yaba College of Technology, much like renowned institutions globally, has retained its original name, becoming an integral part of our national history. I call upon regulatory bodies to consider granting it university status without insisting on a name change.

This recognition would ensure that institutions like Yaba College of Technology continue their historic contribution to our educational landscape.

To the graduating students, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Today marks the beginning of a new journey for each of you, and your choices will shape your future. You are the future bakers of the national cake; dare to dream big, rise to the challenge, and believe in your ability to make a difference.

Great thinkers and innovators like Albert Einstein and John Dalton were ordinary individuals who revolutionized their fields. Similarly, armed with the knowledge and skills you’ve acquired, you have the power to make groundbreaking discoveries and contribute to society. Your spirit, determination, and resilience will be the driving forces behind your success.

I thank Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul and his team for their exceptional work. I believe each graduate will be proud of their future endeavours.
