NDLEA Under Investigation in Mohbad's Death Case, Reveals Police

In a significant development, Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa of Lagos State has disclosed that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is under investigation concerning the death of the late 27-year-old singer, Mohbad. The revelation was made during a press briefing on Friday, shedding new light on the circumstances surrounding the singer’s demise.

Mohbad’s Viral Video: It is essential to recall that Mohbad, in a video that gained widespread attention after his passing, alleged that he had been arrested by law enforcement agents. In the video, he detailed an unsettling account of his ordeal, mentioning that he had been given water in a white bottle to drink, which they claimed contained drugs. Mohbad claimed he was the only one instructed to consume the liquid while the others were told to wait. He also mentioned that he was subjected to physical force during the encounter.

Investigation Focus: During the press briefing, Commissioner of Police Owohunwa provided an update on the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death. He disclosed that the NDLEA is now a subject of the inquiry, focusing on determining whether the agency played any complicit role in the events leading up to the singer’s demise. This inquiry was prompted by the viral video, where Mohbad spoke about his arrest and the actions of law enforcement agents.

Mohbad’s Passing: Mohbad, whose death occurred on September 12, 2023, was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Following the singer’s demise, the state police command took actions that led to the detention of individuals such as Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and several others as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
