PEPT Ruling: APC Leader Extends Congratulations to Tinubu, Encourages Atiku and Obi to Embrace Patriotism.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Tolu Bankole, has joined fellow Nigerians in extending his congratulations to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima following their triumph in the 2023 Presidential Elections Petitions Court. In a verdict delivered on Wednesday by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), led by Haruna Tsammani, it was determined that the case presented by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party lacked merit. Consequently, this upheld President Tinubu’s victory in the Presidential election that took place on February 25.

In his official statement, Bankole expressed his appreciation for the judiciary’s steadfastness and impartiality in the face of intense cyber harassment, stalking, and threats orchestrated by individuals opposed to democratic principles. He lauded the justices of the Presidential Election Petitions Court for their unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and their incorruptibility.

Furthermore, Bankole commended the media and civil society organizations for their impartial examination and reporting of the electoral process. He also recognized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its commendable and non-partisan conduct during the presidential election, especially considering the challenging circumstances.

Bankole called Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to prioritize patriotism over political grandstanding. He emphasized that the current period necessitates unity and cooperation to address the country’s multifaceted socioeconomic challenges.

He encouraged them to join forces with the new administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if they focused on serving the people.
