Jandor Maintains Optimism Ahead of Lagos Election Petition Tribunal Verdict

Abulazeez Olajide Adeniran, popularly known as Jandor and the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election, has expressed confidence that the state’s election petition tribunal will deliver a favourable ruling on Monday.

In a Sunday statement addressed to Lagosians and his supporters, Jandor voiced his belief in the Nigerian election petition tribunal system, countering the prevailing scepticism about its impartiality. He emphasized that he and the PDP have faith in the judiciary process.

Jandor urged his supporters to remember that, regardless of the tribunal’s outcome, there are still two higher courts to pursue before a final decision concerning the 2023 gubernatorial election in Lagos. He stressed that “it is not over until it is over” and assured his supporters to expect fresh air in Lagos, maintaining hope even in uncertainty.

In his statement, Jandor remarked, “Tomorrow, the 25th day of September 2023, the court of first instance on the Lagos State 2023 Governorship election (Tribunal) will deliver Judgement on the petitions before it. Just like I put it here, it’s the court of first instance, which means that whichever way tomorrow’s Judgement swings, there are two more steps to go before the process of the 2023 Governorship election in Lagos State is brought to a close.”

Acknowledging the heightened expectations and the importance of constitutional provisions and electoral laws, Jandor expressed his hope for a thorough and unambiguous interpretation of all petition grounds, aligning with the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act of 2022.

He concluded with a message of optimism and gratitude: “To every Lagosian who keeps yearning for a breath of fresh air in the State of Lagos, I say all hope is not lost. I thank you all for staying true to this course, but tomorrow won’t end the 2023 electioneering process. It’s not over until it’s finally over…”

The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has scheduled its ruling for Monday, September 25th, regarding the petitions challenging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s declaration as the gubernatorial election’s winner. The proceedings are set to commence at 9 a.m. on Monday.
