According to a notice dated 23rd March 2023 posted at the gate of the State Judiciary Headquarters in Umuahia and signed by the Chairman, Comrade C.N Ezeh, and Comrade Ukonu Edward, who signed for the Secretary, the action was necessitated by the non-payment of workers’ entitlements by the state government, despite several entreaties and correspondence.

Lawyers, litigants and public members who had official engagements in the court were seen outside the premises discussing the current situation.

Some members of JUSUN were also seen close to the entrance enforcing the action and ensuring that members of the public do not gain access to the court premises for any official business.
