Police, Soldiers Clash, Shootings In the Air Around INEC Office
Severe tension in Jalingo, Taraba state capital, as sporadic shootings in the air were heard around the INEC office and police headquarters in Jalingo on Monday morning, 20th March 2023.
The reason for the shootings is not yet apparent, but sources said it was a misunderstanding between Soldiers and the police spotted at the INEC office.

Our Correspondent, an eyewitness, saw business owners closing shops, people around the area rushing to enter their houses, and some streets deserted.
However, our Correspondent observed that some parents, on hearing the incident, rushed to bring their children home from school.
As at the time of filing this report, Police spokesman SP Usman Abdullahi Jada did not answer two calls put to his phone in reply to the text message sent to him by our Correspondent.
Meanwhile, the Military and the Police, as well as the DSS, have called for a joint press briefing at the DSS office in Jalingo at 11 a.m.
