Jubilation trails the declaration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) as the winner of the Kano state governorship election.

Party supporters kept trooping to the residence of the former governor of Kano state, Engineer Dr Rabi’u Musa kwankwaso, at Miller Road, Nasarawa GRA Kano.

Some were seen by the roadside chanting solidarity songs and riding on cars and motorcycles to show support for the newly elected governor.

Abba was declared the winner after defeating his closest rival and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

Declaring the winner, the returning officer of the governorship poll, Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, said Yusuf of the NNPP won with 1,019,602 to beat Gawuna of APC, who polled 890,705.

Some Kano residents who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Mariya Muhammad and Abubakar Jibril, prayed to Allah to guide and protect the new governor.

Our Correspondent reports that shortly after the declaration of gubernatorial election results in Kano, the state government imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew across the state Jubilation Trails declaration of Abba Kabir Yusuf as Kano governor-elect.
