The three-member tribunal, presided over by Justice GA Sunmonu in Jalingo, rendered its verdict by dismissing the petition by Prof. Sani Yahaya, the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP). The challenge against Kefas’s election was rejected on two separate grounds, as the tribunal found them to be without merit.
In his statement to the press following the judgement, Governor Kefas’s legal counsel, Sam Adda, pointed out that the petitioners failed to substantiate their allegations and were essentially baseless and unfounded
