FRSC expresses concern over the activities of Stunt drivers.

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has voiced concern over the activities of Stunt drivers leading to the killings of road users and causing obstruction in some parts of the federal capital territory.

Leading special operations to the area in Idu, FCT FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Danlami Abdul, said intelligent reports revealed that the activities have brought untold hardship to residents and would no longer be tolerated in any part of the FCT.

Mr Abdul said the personnel would be deployed to the area permanently to check the unlawful act.

According to the sector commander, the FRSC will not fold its hands and allow any person, no matter how highly placed, to take laws into his hands.

The Chairman of the resident Association of the area, Mr. Saidu Ismael, said many lives had been lost. In contrast, others became disabled due to the activities of Stunt drivers converging every Sunday on Idu Road. According to him, residents had reported the case to the divisional Police office in the area with no solution.

Another leader in the area, Mr Okorie Kalu, maintained that their activities had turned the place into a commercial centre for drug peddlers, phone snatchers and other nefarious activities posing security threats to residents. Mr Okorie stressed that the residents would not relent in working with relevant authorities until the menace was addressed.

The FCT FRSC Head of Operations, Mr. Adewale Ameen, noted that the Sector would not allow the activities of Stunt drivers to continue in any part of the territory.

Mr Ameen said according to law, activities of Stunt drivers are only allowed In Benin, Edo State.

Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were adequately mobilized as a security backup for FRSC. Operatives deployed for the particular exercise.
