The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in Anambra State says it will deploy one thousand and twenty personnel, comprising regular and special Marshalls, in the Eid-El-Kabir celebration to ensure free traffic flow in the area.

The Sector Commander, FRSC in Anambra state, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria correspondent Oby Arinze in Awka.

Mr Irelewuyi said the command was deploying all its personnel to man the identified troubled areas in the flash points of the State.

These flashpoints include the Enugu Onitsha Expressway along the Old Awka-Onitsha Road before Awka and the Upper Iweka to prevent traffic congestion.

The FRSC boss also pointed out that the corps is also deploying its men to the Aguata axis for vehicles moving towards Imo and other parts of the South East.

These areas, he explained, were critical points already identified, stressing that personnel and materials would be deployed to enhance traffic control.

He noted that road users travelling across Anambra State would not experience traffic gridlock due to the officials who would be on duty.

On the Niger Bridge area, the Sector Commander said the corps was also monitoring the axis, emphasizing that it was not envisaging many problems because of the opening of the Second Niger Bridge.

Mr Irelewuyi said commercial drivers discouraged the personnel from loading goods and passengers on top of the old bridge.

The Anambra state FRSC sector Commander told Radio Nigeria that its tow trucks were on standby to remove broken-down vehicles and ensure free traffic flow during the Sallah celebration.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had declared Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29, as Public Holidays to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir.
