Witness Testifies: Chidinma Confessed to Spiking Ataga’s Drink in Alleged Murder Case
In the ongoing trial of Chidinma Ojukwu for the alleged murder of Super TV CEO Michael Ataga, a prosecution witness, DSP Olusegun Bamidele, revealed in court that Ojukwu confessed to spiking Ataga’s drink. The trial took place at the Lagos State High Court in Tafawa Balewa Square.
During cross-examination by the defence lawyer representing Adedapo Quadri, one of the co-accused, Bamidele was asked to provide evidence in the defendants’ statements where it was mentioned that Ataga’s drink was spiked before his death. Bamidele responded that this fact was discovered during the investigation.
The witness further revealed that Ojukwu and Ataga had consumed alcoholic drinks and smoked a substance together. When the first set of the substance finished, they ordered more, which was delivered by a dispatch rider. However, the attempt to locate the dispatch rider was unsuccessful.
The case was adjourned until February 20 for the continuation of the trial. Ojukwu, Quadri, and her sister Chioma Egbuchu were arraigned by the Lagos State Government on October 12, 2021. Ojukwu and Quadri are facing charges relating to conspiracy, murder, and stabbing, while Egbuchu is accused of stealing Ataga’s iPhone 7.
