Dear Colleagues,

#NotToo Young To Run is a global campaign advocating for aligning the age requirement for political office with the official voting age. Today, I add my voice to this mantra, a crucial topic discussed by both our youths and elders across various platforms. The “Not Too Young to Run” mantra is a powerful call to action, encouraging the active participation of young individuals across different spheres.

This mantra has transcended rhetoric, becoming the conceptual core for the United Nations Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In our rapidly changing world, “Not Too Young to Run” has become a beacon of hope, emphasizing the fresh innovations and passion for meaningful change that young leaders bring to the table.

Allowing youths to run for public office opens doors to diverse voices, ensuring decisions are made with the interests of all generations in mind. While concerns have been raised about potential clashes with the advisory roles of elders, efforts are underway to address this issue and provide training for young leaders to meet world-class leadership standards.

It’s inspiring to witness young leaders stepping up to the challenge, proving that age is not a limitation when making a difference. Embracing the “Not too young to run” mantra fosters a culture of inclusivity and empowers the next generation of leaders.

Young leaders bring unique experiences and a deep understanding of the issues affecting their peers, addressing economic challenges and advocating for societal needs.
