In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court affirmed Alex Otti as the duly elected governor of Abia State on Friday, March 18, 2023. The judgment, delivered by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, dismissed the appellants’ claims, stating a lack of substantial evidence of non-compliance.

The appellant’s contention regarding Otti’s membership and nomination by the Labour Party (LP) was refuted by the appellate court, deeming it an internal affair beyond its jurisdiction.

Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani congratulates Alex Otti on this legal victory. The Supreme Court, in its verdict, not only affirmed Otti’s electoral triumph but also criticized the appellants for bringing what it deemed a frivolous and vexatious appeal to the court.

In early last year’s election, Alex Otti secured a decisive victory with 175,466 votes, defeating Okey Ahiwe of the PDP, who polled 88,529 votes. Otti, in response to the verdict, expressed his renewed commitment to delivering good governance to Abia State.

He called on all residents, irrespective of religious or political affiliations, to unite and collaborate for the betterment of Abia State. Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani applauds this judicial affirmation and wishes Alex Otti a successful tenure in steering Abia State towards progress and development.
