Isah Abubakar Aliyu, ESQ, the immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gwagwalada Branch, is a legal luminary with a rich history of impactful leadership.

During his tenure, the Gwagwalada Branch witnessed significant positive developments, including establishing a new branch secretariat and constructing the branch’s permanent secretariat/bar centre to an enviable level.

Notably, Aliyu played a pivotal role in advocating for a new fee regime at Area Courts in the FCT and championed justice in the case of the late Mercy Ezenwanne, who tragically lost her life due to medical negligence.

Aliyu’s leadership extends beyond the branch level, having served as the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gwagwalada Branch, from 2020 to 2022.

His commitment to the legal profession is further evidenced by his roles as Assistant National Publicity of the NBA from 2014 to 2016, Branch Publicity Secretary (Pioneer) from 2012 to 2014, and as a co-opted member of the National Executive Committee in various capacities.

In recognition of his dedication, Aliyu has been actively involved in key committees, including the NBA AGCPC 2024, the NBA Security Agencies Relations Committee (2022-2024), the NBA National Welfare Committee (2022-2024), the NBA Secretariat Restructuring Committee (2020-2022), and the Transition Implementation Committee in 2022.
