CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: APPOINTMENT OF JUDGE FOR THE NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT

The Honourable President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria has invited the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to recommend qualified individuals of Borno State origin for the appointment of an additional judge to the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. NBA members from Borno State who meet the criteria are encouraged to submit their expression of interest to the NBA National Secretariat by December 10, 2023.

Submission Details: Address your correspondence to the President, Nigerian Bar Association, c/o Ayodeji Oni, Esq. Head, Legal Services Department, Nigerian Bar Association National Secretariat, Plot 1101 Cadastral Zone A00 Central Business District Abuja.

Expression of Interest Package:

  1. Copy of Applicant’s Curriculum Vitae
  2. Copy of Applicant’s call-to-bar certificate
  3. Evidence of Bar Practicing Fees (BPF) payment for the past 10 years
  4. Evidence of NBA Branch Dues payment for the past 10 years
  5. Evidence of attendance at NBA Conferences
  6. Evidence of membership in NBA Sections or Fora of the NBA
  7. Certified true copies of at least five judgments in contested cases delivered by the applicant in the last five years
  8. Letter of good standing from the Chairman of the applicant’s Branch, confirming qualities specified in Rule 4(4)(1)(a), (b), and (d) of the National Judicial Council Guidelines for the Appointment of Judicial Officers

Qualification Criteria: Candidates should possess considerable knowledge and experience in industrial relations and employment conditions in Nigeria, with verifiable knowledge and practice.

Upon receiving expressions of interest, the National Secretariat will publish the names of interested candidates, seek comments from NBA members, and subsequently invite candidates for a screening interview.
