President Maikyau’s administration laid a robust foundation for a more dynamic legal bar guided by a comprehensive agenda in his inaugural year.

One of the central pillars of this agenda is the enhancement of welfare schemes, both existing and novel, as outlined in the promises made to the association’s members—a crucial benchmark against which the administration’s success is measured.

National Health Insurance Initiative:

As part of the administration’s commitment to welfare, particularly in the realm of healthcare, an additional 1,000 NBA members have been seamlessly integrated into the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Building upon the previous year’s success, the subscription for the initial 1000 lawyers has been renewed, bringing the total number of members with association-sponsored health insurance premiums to 2000.

This initiative is set to continue, with plans to repeat the exercise next year. By the end of President Maikyau’s tenure, a total of 3000 members will have been enrolled in the scheme free of charge. It is important to note that they will subsequently continue paying their premiums, distinct from members who will enrol by paying the negotiated subsidized rate of N15,000.00.

Advancing a Vision for a Dynamic Bar:

The primary goal of this initiative is to ensure widespread access to the invaluable healthcare package offered by the NBA—covering primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare at a subsidized premium of N15,000.

The ultimate aim is to provide all association members with affordable healthcare, alleviating the need for constant fundraising when faced with health challenges.

President Maikyau’s administration is resolute in its commitment to fostering the well-being of Nigerian Bar Association members and ensuring that the legal community thrives through accessible and comprehensive welfare initiatives.
