Family Speaks Out After Tragic Loss of 'One Chance' Victim in Abuja

The heart-wrenching story of Greatness Olorunfumi, who tragically lost her life after falling victim to a ‘One Chance’ scam and facing alleged negligence at an Abuja hospital, has deeply shaken her grieving family.

Reverend Dr. Olorunfemi Joseph Olufemi, Greatness’s father, has chosen to communicate through the Secretary of Yali Network Nigeria to express their profound sorrow. The family, overwhelmed by the tragic events, has requested privacy to mourn their beloved Greatness.

Moyosoluwa Oladayo, the network’s secretary, revealed that Greatness, a member of Yali Network Nigeria in Abuja, had arrived in the Federal capital the previous year in pursuit of better opportunities, leaving her immediate family in Lagos behind. Greatness was the eldest child and the primary breadwinner for her family.

The unfortunate incident unfolded last Tuesday when Greatness became a victim of a ‘One Chance’ vehicle. Her father, who resides in Lagos, rushed to Abuja on Wednesday upon hearing the news. The family met with the organization at the Mabuchi Police DPO office on Thursday.

Oladayo further disclosed that Greatness’s father initially wished to return her body to Lagos. Still, the police, after viewing the video and audio clips circulating on social media, insisted on officially opening the case on Thursday.

FCT Police Commences Investigation

The Abuja Police command has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of Greatness Olorunfemi, who allegedly passed away in a general hospital in Abuja after falling victim to a ‘One Chance’ bus.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, confirmed that they are actively investigating the case based on the information they obtained from social media.

“We are investigating the matter, with the Mabuchi Division initially handling the case. However, the Commissioner of Police has directed the DPO to promptly transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation,” she stated.

Greatness, who was in her 30s, gained widespread attention on social media when a video depicting the alleged neglect she endured at Maitama General Hospital began circulating.
