In Memoriam: Otunba Olujimi Olajide Oduba, SAN

The BOSAN Secretariat regrets to inform the legal community and the nation at large of the passing of our esteemed colleague, Otunba Olujimi Olajide Oduba, SAN. He peacefully departed on October 21, 2023, at 87. Otunba Oduba’s legacy in maritime law is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the legal landscape.

Educational and Professional Journey

Otunba Olujimi Olajide Oduba, SAN, embarked on his legal journey after completing his early education. He was called to the English Bar in 1971 and the Nigerian Bar in 1975. In 1997, he achieved the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a testament to his dedication and excellence in the legal profession.

A-Pillar in Maritime Law

Throughout his career, Otunba Oduba was a highly regarded figure in maritime law in Nigeria. He served as the principal partner at Jimi Oduba (SAN) Legal Chambers in Lagos, a prominent law firm with a dedicated focus on admiralty and maritime law practice.

His expertise and influence in this field were widely acknowledged, and he played a pivotal role in shaping the practice of maritime law in the country. He also served as a trustee of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association, further highlighting his commitment to the maritime legal community.
