An Abuja-based legal practitioner, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has asked the Federal Government to immediately scrap its Service Compact With Nigerians ( SERVICOM).

The lawyer warns that the taxpayers’ money should stop being used to fund a moribund organization that no longer serves any useful purpose.

Servicom is an initiative of the Nigerian Government of Nigeria to promote effective and efficient service delivery in MDAs to ensure customer satisfaction.

It also manages the performance-expectation gap between Government, citizens, and other public members on service delivery issues.

But Lawyers are up in arms, insisting Serivcom has performed below expectations.

Leading the charge in Abuja is Pelumi Olajengbesi, who alleged that the organization’s leadership and modus operand has encouraged abuse of office.

He also says victims of these errant officers have allegedly been precluded from accessing appropriate remedies within the administrative system.

As an alternative, the lawyer proposed that the Federal Government either revitalize the agency or abolish it immediately to cease squandering scarce resources on ineffective endeavours.

The council insists that the organization’s service delivery has gone from bad to worse. At the same time, its workers continue drawing salaries from the Federal Government coffers without doing anything to justify the pay.

The issue of excessive taxation of Business names and small media scale businesses was also brought to the fore to be addressed by the Federal Government to not discourage local and foreign investors.

The National Assembly has also been called upon to address the contradictions in the police act and the Constitution regarding the tenure of the Inspector General of Police.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, counselling Aide of Pro Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho, noted that Mr Igboho will return soon.

He pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to take a different approach in addressing demands made by freedom fighters to prevent likely threats to security and the breakdown of law and order.
