Celebrating Professor Yemi Akinseye-George, SAN, on His 60th Birthday

On this joyous occasion marking his 60th birthday, we celebrate a remarkable journey and extend heartfelt prayers and wishes to Professor Yemi Akinseye-George, SAN. He is a learned colleague and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a cherished mentor, an exceptional teacher, and a true gentleman.

Born in 1963 in Ondo State, Nigeria, Prof. Akinseye-George’s life has been an inspiring story of contributions to society and legal excellence. His journey commenced in the mid-80s when he earned his LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Lagos.

In 1986, he was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His early career was marked by a profound commitment to legal education, where he became a senior lecturer at the University of Ibadan in 1989.

Professor Yemi Akinseye-George’s dedication to legal scholarship led him to the prestigious Davis Centre at Princeton University in 1997-1998. There, he conducted groundbreaking research on corruption and constitutionalism in Africa.

In 2003, he embraced a new challenge as Special Adviser to two (2) Ministers of Justice and Attorneys-General of Nigeria while contributing significantly to legal scholarship.

His unwavering commitment to the legal profession reached new heights in December 2004 when he was appointed a professor of public law at Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State. In July 2012, he achieved a remarkable milestone by being appointed a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

To celebrate this incredible journey and milestone, we invite you to join us in a Thanksgiving Service and Book Presentation in honour of Prof. Yemi Akinseye George, SAN. The event will occur on Saturday, 30th September 2023, at 10 a.m. at the New Covenant Church, Gudu Abuja.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be accessible online via live stream. Friends, colleagues, and well-wishers are encouraged to participate in celebrating this outstanding legal practitioner and his invaluable contributions to the legal profession, education, and society.
