Anambra: IGP Presents cheques to Deceased Police officers Family.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, has presented cheques worth Thirty-eight million, three hundred and sixty-two thousand, Seven hundred and twenty-two naira, sixty-seven kobo (#38,362,722.67) to sixteen (16) families of deceased Police officers attached to the Anambra State Command.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr Echeng Echeng, while presenting the cheques on behalf of the IGP, said the gesture was an initiative of a family welfare insurance scheme aimed at giving succour to the families of Police officers who died in active service.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, the gesture was also aimed at spurring officers to greatness while discharging their statutory duties with the assurance that their welfare is paramount to the leadership of the Force.

The Police Commissioner thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his relentless efforts towards ensuring a good welfare package for personnel of the Force and urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely by investing in profitable ventures that will alleviate the needs of the dependents left behind.

He noted that, in the last three months, this was the second time the Command had received similar cheques from the Inspector General of Police for families of deceased officers.

Mr Echeng used the medium to assure that the Command Officers and men would continue to do their best to ensure Anambra State’s peace, security and safety.

The statement says the benefitting families thanked the Inspector-General of Police and pledged to use the money well.
