Police have arrested Mr Ismail Abdulganiyu and Sheidu Amoto while digging holes in access
road in Okehi Local Government Area in Kogi Central Senatorial District of the State.

However, when interrogated, they revealed that the Chairman of Okehi LGA, Hon. Abdulraheem Ohiare
and the Kogi State Ministry of Works contracted them to deconstruct the access road to prevent
the Independent National Electoral Commission officials from accessing the district.
They further revealed on Thursday that the LGA Chairman didn’t want some stakeholders and
observers to have access to LGA and other parts of the Central Senatorial district; hence, he urged
them to dig pits and make the road unmotorable. In their confessions, they stated: “We were
commissioned by the Okehi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Hon. Abdulraheem Ohiare

Upon interrogation, Ismail confessed that he was a staff of the CCECC construction firm,m while Sheidu said he
is a team of the Kogi State Ministry of Works; admitting to the collaboration between CCECC construction
firm and Kogi State Ministry of Works to block access roads in Kogi Central ahead of February 25, 2023
general elections.
As of the time of filing this report, the construction firm has already dug pits in four
major access roads in Okehi local government area.

Several reports confirmed that the company, under the order of the Kogi State government, will carry
out the same assignment in the other four local government areas of Kogi Central to prevent INEC officials
from accessing the Senatorial district and preventing the impending defeat of the APC candidates.
The arrest was coming less than 48 hours before the general election.
Meanwhile, CAPITAL POST reports that the INEC, earlier in the week, dispatched
its non-sensitive materials to all the 21 LGAs successfully in Kogi State.
