Remain Neutral, Adhere to Electoral Act – NYSC
As the country prepares for the 2023 general elections, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, deployed to the federal capital territory, has been urged to ensure complete adherence to the guidelines of the Electoral Act.
The Director General NYSC, Brigadier-General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, made a call during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 orientation course held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Kubwa, in FCT.

According to DG NYSC, Represented by the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Suleiman Abdul, the participation of NYSC corp members in the elections was due to the performance of their predecessors since 2008 and hence the need for them to remain neutral throughout the exercise.

Mallam Abdul further stressed the need for the corps members to entrench the culture of working together to promote friendship, peace and harmony.
The FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Suleiman Abdul, also advised the corp members to take
advantage of the skill acquisition programs of the scheme for self-reliance.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than 2 590 participated in the three weeks orientation exercise.
The Director General NYSC, Ahmed made his position known on Tuesday while presiding over the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘A” Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town.
He noted that the performance of corps members in previous elections contributed to the credibility of the process, which earned the scheme accolades from local and international observers.
Represented by the State Coordinator, NYSC Bayelsa State, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, who described the exercise as an important national assignment, also called on the corps members to emulate their predecessors by carrying out their duties diligently.
He assured that the scheme has secured the commitment of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and other security agencies on the welfare and safety of corps members before, during and after the elections.
