NBAWF CONFERENCE FIFTH PLENARY SESSION

We are delighted to announce the speakers for our upcoming 4th Annual General Conference and International Women’s Day Event happening live in Lagos on Thursday, 21st & Friday, 22nd March 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, with the theme ‘Beyond the Balance Sheet: Redefining Success for Women in Law’.

In our Fifth Plenary Session themed, ‘Health, Wealth and Everything In Between – a Blueprint for Success, we have Fatima Ibrahim Ali, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu OFR, SAN, Beatrice Eyong, Dr Maymunah Yusuf Kadiri, and Mrs Uwa Ohiku as the speakers.

Fatima Ibrahim Ali is the Chief Evolution Officer of The Leadership Evolution Nest (The LENs). She is a qualified Leadership and Transition Coach and an Executive leadership coach with a background in Entrepreneurial and agro-processing systems. She partners with executives, entrepreneurs, institutions, and start-ups to build capacity, design, and operate successful impact-driven businesses, initiatives, and leaders.

Prof. Fabian Ajogwu OFR SAN, Senior Partner, Kenna Partners, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, legal author, and governance advisor. He is Nigeria’s first professor of corporate governance and a professor of Corporate Governance at Lagos Business School, where he has taught Business Law, Negotiation, and Corporate Governance for well over 16 years.

He has written more than ten books, published numerous articles in peer-reviewed academic and professional journals, and developed case studies and technical notes used in several of the School’s programmes.

Beatrice Eyong – UN Women’s Country Representative to Nigeria She is the UN Women’s Country Representative to Nigeria. She has over 35 years of professional experience promoting gender equality and Women’s Empowerment.

Before her current appointment, she was the Resident Representative of UN Women, Mali (the office with the most enormous UN Women’s portfolio in West and Central Africa); Head of the UNWOMEN Office in Niger; and she established the Eastern DRC Office in Bukavu.
Dr Maymunah Yusuf Kadiri:

She is a Mental Health Advocate, Psychiatrist, and Psychotherapist. She is a multiple award-winning Mental Health Physician, Advocate, and coach. She is the Medical Director and Psychiatrist-In-Chief at Pinnacle Medical Services, Nigeria’s leading and foremost Psychology and Mental health clinic, prominent in applying innovative clinical approaches in the management/treatment of a wide range of psychological, emotional, and behavioural-related disorders.

She is a dynamic Consultant Neuro-Psychiatrist and a Fellow of the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria with almost 20 years of experience as a practising Physician. She is a trained and certified Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist from the Albert Ellis Institute, New York, USA. She is also a certified Trauma Counsellor and Neurofeedback Practitioner.

Uwa Ohiku: She is a senior partner at Jackson, Etti & Edu. She has specialist experience in all aspects of IP law & practice. She handles the local IP portfolios of numerous blue-chip international corporations based mainly in the US and Europe.

The Panel will be moderated by Professor Foluke Dada, Dean of Caleb University College of Law. She is a distinguished Professor of Human Rights and Technology with over three decades of experience in academics and legal practice. She is known for her expertise in Health Law and Policy, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Human Rights.

She is currently the Dean of Caleb University College of Law, a budding but reputable law school in Lagos. She is highly regarded for her work in arbitration, managing discovery, due diligence searches, and mediation. She has also taught various courses, including the Law of International Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Family Law, and Human Rights, at different universities.

This Session seeks to broaden the debate around equal opportunities for women in the workplace by addressing key components of women’s well-being and their effect on career progression.
