Maikyau shatters the glass ceiling: Appoints all female lawyers to organize the 2024 NBA Annual General Conference.

In a historic move, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Y.C. Maikyau SAN, shatters the glass ceiling by appointing an all-female leadership for the 2024 Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC).

In a groundbreaking announcement, Maikyau has ushered in a new era for the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) by appointing an exclusively female team to lead the planning and execution of the prestigious 64th Annual General Conference (AGC) in 2024.

The reconstituted AGCPC, as revealed in a statement from the association’s secretariat, is set to be helmed by Oyinkansola Badejo Okusanya as the Chairperson, with Amina Suleiman Kaoje serving as the Alternate Chairperson. Laura Alakija takes on the crucial role of Secretary, and Chika Eucharia Okorie is appointed as the Alternate Secretary.

President Maikyau, in his personally signed statement, emphasized the association’s commitment to inclusivity and the recognition of its female members’ immense talent and capability.

The groundbreaking decision marks the first time in the history of the NBA that an all-female team will lead the AGCPC, signalling a significant milestone in gender representation within the legal profession.

The AGCPC, tasked with organizing and delivering a world-class 64th Annual General Conference, is pivotal in orchestrating an event that brings legal professionals from Nigeria and various countries together. The magnitude of the responsibility is underscored by the success of the 2023 AGC, which drew over 16,000 lawyers.
