In a heartwarming visit to the ancient city of Benin, Edo State, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Y. C. Maikyau, OON, SAN, exemplified compassion and comradeship.

Among the poignant moments was a visit to the widow of the late Ogaga Emoghwanre, Esq., who served as the Nigerian Bar Association Welfare Committee secretary from 2020 to 2022.

The late Ogaga Emoghwanre, Esq., made significant contributions to the legal community, leaving an indelible mark as the secretary of the NBA Welfare Committee. Working under the leadership of then-chairman Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, Ogaga played a pivotal role in advancing welfare initiatives for members of the Nigerian Bar Association.

As the secretary of the NBA Welfare Committee, Ogaga demonstrated solid commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of lawyers. The welfare committee actively engaged in initiatives to enhance the overall well-being of legal professionals. This included programs and support systems designed to cater to the diverse needs of lawyers, ranging from professional development to personal well-being, including but not limited to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The president’s thoughtful itinerary included visiting Mrs Ogechi Emoghare’s new shop, TEJ Collections (TC), in Benin City.

President Maikyau extended his visit to the late Ogaga Emoghwanre family home, Esq., where he spent valuable time with the grieving parents. During this emotional encounter, Mr. Emoghwanre expressed his continuous connection with the NBA president, highlighting President Maikyau’s unwavering support and prayers for him.
