Oba of Lagos Urges Cooperation from Igbos, Dispels Demolition Concerns

In a meeting with the President-General of Ohanaeze, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has called on the Igbos to cooperate with the Lagos State government and show respect to the “owners of the land.” Akiolu dismissed concerns about intentional property demolitions by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasizing the importance of cooperation.

The remarks were made during a meeting at the palace on Saturday, addressing fears expressed by some Igbo residents in Lagos regarding demolishing their properties and shops. Accusations of ethnic profiling by the state government prompted the Oba of Lagos to reassure the Igbos.
