In a shocking development, the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Kogi State, Muhammed Danasabe Muhammed, has passed away. Muhammed’s demise occurred around 4.30 a.m. at a hospital in Lokoja, the state capital, after he reportedly slumped at his residence.
The late Council Chairman had been actively participating in a series of political meetings in preparation for the upcoming state governorship election scheduled for Saturday. Sources revealed that he was rushed to Shifa Hospital, Lokoja, shortly after collapsing at home late on Thursday.
A family source, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that doctors pronounced him clinically dead around 4.30 a.m. on Friday. Muhammed, a native of Ward B in the cantonment area of Lokoja, is set to rest at the Unguwan Kura Muslim cemetery after the Juma’at prayer on Friday.
As sympathizers gathered at his family residence in the cantonment area of Lokoja to offer condolences, the sudden demise of the Council Chairman added a sombre note to the political landscape just hours before the critical governorship election.
Muhammed is survived by his mother, wife, and children. The community mourns his loss as the state prepares for the electoral process, now shadowed by this unexpected tragedy.
